Simon Kellaway

CDT student, UCL School of Pharmacy



Simon graduated with an upper second class joint honours degree in Genetics and Biochemistry (BSc) from Swansea University where he received an award for his work on quantitative genetics. He then remained at Swansea, achieving a distinction for his MSc in Nanomedicine. During his master's degree he undertook a 4 month research project in collaboration with the University of Houston, spending 3 months in the US, developing micropatterned silicon chips for the culturing of mesenchymal stem cells to be subsequently differentiated into insulin producing pancreatic islets.

Current Research

PhD Project Title: Tissue-derived ECM hydrogels for peripheral nerve repair

Supervisor: Dr James Phillips

Project description: Simon's project is a collaboration with Dr Lisa White at the University of Nottingham, investigating the use different biomaterials for use in promoting axonal regrowth following peripheral nerve repair.
