Joint Spring School with students from the NanoFar European Doctorate in nanomedicine and pharmaceutical innovation
The CDT, together with Prof Frank Boury, Dr Cynthia Bosquillon and Marion Toucheteau from the NanoFar programme, organised a training week focusing on ‘Cancer medicines, nanotoxilogy and nanomaterials’.
The spring school would like to thank CDT alumnus Dr Arpan Desai (AstraZeneca), Mr Paul Giffen (GSK), Dr Martyn Foster (independent consultant), Dr Martin Himly (University of Salzburg), Dr Avi Schroeder (Technion – Israel Institute of Technology), CDT student Claire Lewis, Dr Anna Grabowska, Dr Lisa White, Dr Tracey Bradshaw, and EPSRC postdoctoral fellows Dr Andrew Hook and Dr Amanda Pearce (all University of Nottingham) for their superb presentations which were open to all students and staff. The student jury awarded the prize for best poster to final year NanoFar student Mrs Ciara Bastiancich for her poster on ‘Lauroyl-Gemcitabine nanomedicine hydrogel for the local treatment of glioblastoma’.
These three busy days also had dedicated sessions for developing soft skills development in networking, public engagement and debating. Previous events have shown that networking is facilitated by art. Our students had a guided tour of the current exhibition ‘Winifred Nicholson: Liberation of colour’ and an art session focussing on travelling which was very much enjoyed.
