First Meeting in Advanced Patient Centric Therapeutics

CDT students, academics and industrial sponsors with a particular interest in research and development of patient-centric medicines got together in the First Meeting in Advanced Patient Centric Therapeutics held in the Institute of Child Health in London.

The event included short presentations given by CDT students Sally Gittings, Alison Keating, Claire Lewis and Felipe Lopez; an introduction to the European Paediatric Formulation Initiative (EuPFI) by Dr. Catherine Tuleu (UCL); and talks about industrial insights and examples of industrial projects given by Dr. Alastair Coupe (Pfizer) and Dr. Terry Ernest (GSK).

The attendees had the opportunity to visit the Somers Clinical Research Facilities at the Great Street Ormond Hospital (GOSH) in London. The meeting finalised with a “round table” where opportunities for further collaboration and potential for new projects for the CDT programme were discussed.

With various PhD students involved in this research area across both universities (UoN and UCL), the Advanced Patient Centric Therapeutics is “a small yet sturdy component of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Advanced Therapeutics and Nanomedicines”.
