Cristina de Matteis awarded funding by HEFCE  for ‘Come on in to our research labs; enhancing our UG students' experience of research’

"Come on in to our research labs is a new initiative for the School of Pharmacy which brings together our UG and PG student communities for the first time, to increase UG students’ awareness of, and exposure to, the research carried out within the School. This initiative acknowledges that there can be a disconnect between the research-led culture at the University and the School, and our UG students’ experience on their pharmacy course.

Through a series of events and shadowing opportunities, organised in partnership with our PG students, and the creation of new visually-rich interactive materials, our pharmacy UG students, on our increasingly clinically-led course, will gain exposure to and the opportunity to engage with, the pharmaceutical sciences research in the School. In turn, our PG students will gain skills in science communication and teaching science, as part of their PG training portfolio. This reciprocally beneficial initiative will enhance the experiences and widen the horizons of the UG and PG communities in the School, together with diversifying their skills that will contribute to enhancing their employability.
