CDT Students attend NanoFar BioBusiness Week in Angers, France
A number of CDT students have been in Angers, France, for the 2015 NanoFar BioBusiness Week. Paloma Benito Gallo, Dania Grant-Serroukh, Claire Lewis, Melissa Rayner, and Rita Trindade joined doctoral students from 8 countries to learn about issues such as market studies, intellectual property, and fundraising.
According to the NanoFar website “This workshop was jointly organised by the University of Angers - through its European NanoFar Program -, the Doctoral School of Biology and Health Nantes-Angers, Angers Technopole and Atlanpole Biothérapies. The aim of the workshop was to increase student's awareness of the different issues they will face if they decide to set up their own start up.”
Claire Lewis said “I particularly enjoyed learning about the finances behind a start-up as this is not something we are normally exposed to. I also enjoyed learning how to 'pitch' our business idea, again a new area. I think it will prove useful in the future and for my upcoming involvement in the BioTech YES competition.”
