CDT Colloquium held at Walgreens Boots Alliance and the University of Nottingham

CDT students, academics and industry scientists met for a two-day event focusing on three themes within the CDT: Targeted skin delivery, Nanomedicines and Cell-based drug delivery methods, each session was chaired by a CDT student.

The first day of the Colloquium was held on the Boots premises in Beeston and was organised by Drs Judata Wibawa and Andrew Inchley and their colleagues. All attendants got an overview on the history of Boots by Sophie Clapp from the beginning with founder Jesse Boot, offering the first affordable medicines to everyone, to the well-known High Street Pharmacies of today. Ibuprofen was invented by Boots scientist Dr Stewart Adams and his team. Please find the following link for more information on the history of Boots.

The morning concluded with a tour of the research and production facilities of Boots. The afternoon focused on targeted skin delivery with plenary speakers Dr David Scurr (UoN) and Dr Mike Bell (Walgreens Boots Alliance) presenting their skin delivery research. Several CDT students presented their research in the form of posters or oral presentation.

During the evening, everyone was invited to go bowling and for a meal out.
