Training Week in London, 21 January, 2019.

The second of three training weeks was held in London as a mixture of workshops, lectures and laboratory demonstrations. Scientific training focussed on thermal methods, microscopy, XRD and dissolution testing whilst students also discussed what it means to do a PhD, error reporting and intellectual property.

The week also included a one day Entrepreneurship skills workshop run by the UCL Innovation and Enterprise team at Base KX.  The workshop included ‘older’ CDT students as well as PhD students from different disciplines.  The workshop aimed to get students to understand the key characteristics of an entrepreneurial mind-set, learn to spot opportunities, make the most of resources available to them and to improve their personal effectiveness.

The CDT would like to thank our colleagues Abdul Basit, Sara Garcia Gomez and Sebastian Gurgul as well as our very own Simon Gaisford, Steve Brocchini and Gareth Williams for their invaluable contributions to the training week.
