Action Learning Set Taster Session

The EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Chemistry and Advanced Therapeutics and Nanomedicines held a joint Action Learning Set (ALS) training event for their second year students. The event was facilitated by Mentora Ltd, and assisted by Dr Rita Trindade, a recent CDT alumna, who also participated in ALS as part of her training.

The aim of this training event was to give all participants an insight into problem solving and additionally to build professional relationships with other students. The students then have the option to commit to Action Learning Sets, to further develop their problem solving skills. The session was a success as 16 of the 20 attendants have chosen to continue with ALS with sessions to continue in December 2019.

Dr Clare Pickersgill from the University of Nottingham Museum of Archaeology led an activity on medicines and cosmetics mainly in Roman times. Students and staff had an introduction to medicines during that time, had the opportunity to look at all the exhibits and excitingly were allowed to handle archaeological finds such as ear picks, perfume bottles, glass and much more. The CDTs would like to thank Clare for this wonderful opportunity.
