Outreach event with children from the Forest Fields Primary School
Students and staff from the CDT hosted a visit by 30 enthusiastic year 2 children and teachers from Forest Fields Primary School at the School of Pharmacy, University of Nottingham. After a picnic in the University Park, the children took part in 4 different activities: They made their own ointments using mortar and pestle to mix all ingredients, learned about targeted drug delivery in the body, looked at solids, liquids and gases measuring volumes of liquid in measuring cylinders and looked at how similar sweets and medicines look. Children and scientists had a lot of fun together and the children were curious and inquisitive.
We would like to thank our lovely volunteers from the CDT and the School of Pharmacy: Abdul Hafeez, Adelaide Jewell, Akmal Bin Sabri, Anna Kotowska, Athina Liaskoni, Bhanu Surikutchi, Claudio Tomi Andrino, Esme Ireson, Isobel Holden, Kimberley Sonnex, Lee Buttery, Lorenzo Schiazza, Paula Muresan, and Racha Asaad for giving their time and all their help during and aound the event and Colin Wills for preparing all the laboratory ware.
